This work great for keeping mower blade sharp after each use. Using these, I just leave the blade on the mower and put a nice clean edge on it before I put it up. Keep in mind I'm using a battery operated mower, so no problem tilting up 90 degrees to sharpen the blades. This is the only brand I have tried, but read many reviews before deciding on these. I think they're great and my lawn has never looked better.
I chucked this in my drill press and set the speed to high. Holding the blade firmly in both hands and putting the flat side of the blade against the steel backing plate, the pre-angled grinding stone put a perfect, sharp edge to my mower blade, matching the original bevel angle. The stone is reversible after it wears a bit, so longevity of this product is exceptional.
This was as described and very good quality. My blades were in bad shape with divits in them which made holding the drill steady on the blade very difficult. I ended up using an angle grinder to clean up the edge then strapping the drill to the bench like a bench grinder and running the blade across it. With this process I didn't even make a dent on one of them from three blades
I had not sharpened my blade since purchasing an electric mower and was noticing it was really getting bogged down with tall grass and the battery was dying before I could complete a full yard cut. After removing the blade to sharpen, I realized I was basically mowing the lawn with no sharp edge at all. It was literally just a 3/8th inch or so thick metal bar swinging around. After sharpening with this tool, the difference was like night and day. I can mow the yard much faster now and have plenty of battery left over. Will def use occasionally to keep my blade nice and sharp going forward.
