Discover the worst mistake you can make when opening your wine and the best way, tried and tested by sommeliers all over the world, to avoid it

This new method can open any wine in seconds, even when the cork is old and dried out

Do you like fine wines? If so, you’ve undoubtedly encountered the battle against a stubborn cork, right?

And what happens next is the worst mistake we can make when opening a wine…

Either you win the battle by removing the cork, even if it’s cut or crumbled, but don’t notice that pieces of cork have fallen in and contaminated your wine…

Or you lose. Watching half the cork come out on the corkscrew and the other half remain in the wine… And in this case, we don’t admit defeat, but start an exhaustive search on the internet for “how to remove a broken cork from inside a bottle.”

The most tragic thing is when we talk about excellent or extraordinary wines, wines that cost $100, $400, $600 or even over $1,000 like Penfolds Special Bin 620… That took decades to age and evolve in taste, and that you bought with great care, to celebrate and enjoy special moments or the company of those you love.

The fact is that the more aged the wine, the more flavorful and unique it is, but also, the drier, more fragile and harder to remove its cork becomes.

This is why the conventional corkscrew ends up being the main villain, as when it pierces the cork, it causes pieces of cork to fall and contaminate the liquid. This is bad as it affects the taste, but it can get even worse, as it can break the cork in half and not even be able to remove it from the neck, due to its fragility.

That’s why, those who appreciate fine wines, wonder if there is any way to avoid the error when removing the cork, to prevent the contamination of the wine with cork, and also without risking breaking the cork in half.

Now, thanks to a new wine opener, created by Italian Sommelier Giorgi Marchetti, we can say yes.

The innovation we’re talking about is called PopperWine, and it was rated in one of the largest wine contests in the world, the “Challenge International Du Vin”, where sommeliers from all over the world were excited to prove that it was capable of removing even the most fragile and dried corks, from the most expensive and special wines, without the risk of contaminating the wine with pieces of cork.

So, what is PopperWine and how did it come about?

Thinking about the difficulty of removing fragile corks without contaminating the wine, Giorgi Marchetti became obsessed with creating an easier way to open wines… a way truly capable of preventing the liquid from being contaminated by pieces of cork even from the fragile and difficult to remove corks.

And so PopperWine was born. It is one of those brilliant inventions that makes us ask ourselves, “Why didn’t I think of that before?”.

It’s a unique corkscrew with an air pump system, and its operation is as simple as it is surprising.

Here’s how it works: It has a stainless steel needle at the tip that can easily pierce the cork without dropping pieces of cork.

Next, with just 3 or 4 gentle air-pumping motions, it causes the cork to “pop out”, as the air will push from bottom to top. This means, besides not needing to apply any force at all, it’s also the best way not to contaminate the wine with cork pieces.

Imagine taking a good bottle of wine from your cellar, one that you’ve stashed away with great care to savour at a special dinner with your loved ones. As you remove the foil, you notice the cork is dry, and your mates start to look worried. But you’ll be calm, because with PopperWine, you can open your wine in seconds, effortlessly, and without fear of spoiling the experience, being able to fully enjoy the taste and aroma of your good wine.

It’s a must-have for true wine lovers.

Now let's hear from Giorgi Marchetti:

"I developed PopperWine because my customers kept asking me what the best way to open their wines was.

It's such a waste to pay a fortune for a wine, only to use a regular corkscrew that crumbles the cork and contaminates the wine. It's a sad sight. The taste and aroma that took decades to perfect will be lost and the tasting experience ruined. So, I wanted to find a way to help.

I'm very happy to be the creator and see PopperWine being recognised worldwide at international events as the best wine opening accessory."

Giorgi Marchetti, creator of PopperWine

Our opinion on PopperWine:

I tested the product for about 2 months, and as an aspiring “amateur sommelier”, I have to say, it was an interesting experience.

The first time I used it, I was with a group of mates. We gathered on a weekend to chat and try out some good wines. I’d been telling them all week about a cellar-aged, very special wine I’d bought and promised we would open it together.

When I arrived at one of my mate’s houses, they were all eager to open the wine I’d mentioned, and I won’t lie, so was I!

As we removed the foil, we noticed the cork looked a bit off… dry… and my mates exchanged worried glances. That’s when I pulled the PopperWine out of my jacket pocket.

Immediately, everyone was confused and extremely curious to understand what it was all about. But without saying anything to anyone, I just inserted the PopperWine into the cork and after 4 air-pumping motions, the cork sprung out. It took less than 5 seconds.

Everyone was astounded, including me!

That’s when I explained that we were doing an article about a product that had won the contest for best wine opening system, that this product was PopperWine. I explained that the stainless steel needle on the tip can easily pierce the cork, without dropping cork pieces.

And with just 3 or 4 light air-pumping movements, it causes the cork to “pop out”, as the air pushes from bottom to top. This means, besides not needing to apply any force, the PopperWine opens any wine in seconds, especially those challenging ones with fragile corks, without contaminating the wine.

Your eyes didn’t even blink during the explanation, I felt like a professional sommelier explaining to my mates the advantage of using PopperWine and how the common corkscrew can contaminate the wine and spoil the experience.

I’ve used PopperWine several times at home with my wife and it was really useful, but I have to say that I discovered an unexpected function at a Sunday barbie with my dad.

I brought a bottle of 2017 Irvine Grand Merlot, my dad’s favourite, and after explaining to him what PopperWine is and how it works, he asked to open the bottle himself.

Which was a bit strange for me and my mum, as my dad has arthritis in his fingers and it’s been a long time since he opened a wine, but I handed him the PopperWine

In a few seconds, the cork popped out and everyone was impressed, just like my mates were, but what impressed me was that the arthritis in his fingers didn’t interfere with the use of PopperWine, unlike the conventional corkscrew!

I gave my PopperWine to my dad as a gift and I’m sure it was one of the best presents I’ve ever given, he was chuffed! He said he was keen to get back to drinking the wines he’s had stashed away at home!

So, if you appreciate good wines and love savouring them with all the experience and everything they can really offer, I recommend the PopperWine. With it you will:
